Brasserie De Silly

Brasserie de Silly, a typical village brewery from the Hainaut region, is now in the hands of the sixth generation of the same family. Their Double Enghien is the city beer of nearby Edingen (Enghien). The pleasantly hoppy Silly Pils is also available in an organic version. As becomes a traditional Hainaut brewery, the range includes a Saison Silly, a farm beer that is characteristic for the region. The brewery also focuses on abbey beers with its Abbaye de Forest, named after the former Vorst abbey, and the amber-coloured La Divine. Cre Tonerre is a tripel, re-fermented with the addition of Cuban rum. Brasserie de Silly has also ventured into producing a scotch. During the First World War, a Scottish batallion had its quarters in the village. One of the soldiers liked the area so much that he stayed on and taught the brewer the secret of brewing scotch. There is also a wood-matured Scotch Silly Barrel Aged, which is a bit of an acquired taste. The brewery has veered away from the well-trodden patch with its snazzy Pink Killer, containing grapefruit. Hoppier paths are explored with the new Green Killer IPA.
