Poppolou
PoppoLou is the North Sea beer par excellence. The idea of producing this golden blonde germinated in BeerTourism Café Manuscript in Oostend, known for its endless choice of Belgian specialty beers, its convival atmosphere and live music scene. Owners Glenn Rotsaert and his wife Vanessa Demeij took to the idea of offering a house beer to the customers of their brown café. But they were adament their new creation wouldn’t join the ranks of other, very similar beers. PoppoLou – a contraction of the first names of two of their sons – is a refreshing thirst-quencher. Its slighly salty touch, reminiscent of the sea air, strikes you immediately. Rest assured though, no sea water was used in the production of this beer. The PoppoLou has now been joined by an extra-hopped brother, the PoppoLou IPA. It is no coincidence that the label displays the word ‘Thirsty’ – these boys are great thirst-quenchers.
